*La Noble Cabernet Sauvignon- Price last paid $7.99 SALE-Red-2004

RATING:
11/23/2006 What’s to like? OK..I knew from the beginning this could be a mistake. Hint number one- screw top. I know…Screw tops are becoming increasingly common even on good wines. Whatever. Also, the packaging. the label- it was all just too well done. Sometimes there is a reverse and direct correlation between the marketing that goes on to a bottle vs. the taste inside. What made me say “yes” to this bottle, it was a product of France. They make good wine…right? So I bought it. Now I need to cook something that calls for wine. Note:(I did, I’ll share it with you later.) The taste was a little too sweet and bitter at the same time. Very little body. Hard to describe other than, “Cheap.”
Is it drinkable, yes..but is that the point?
I admit to the world that I do not consider myself a wine expert…but I’m working at it, one cheap bottle at a time.
What other’s say: http://www.winemerchant.net/pages/top40d.php?rank=10
“If you want a firm wine with real Cabernet flavors and all of the subtlety and finesse that has made Cabernet prized for centuries (and you don’t want to spend a lot), give this a try.
This consistent ‘Best Buy’ is rich enough for fine dinners, thick cuts of steak, long-simmered pot roasts, turkey dinners and humongous burgers. Or try it with soup on a cold evening. Dark garnet color, open aromas of red currants with notes of cedar and earth. Firm on the palate with ripe red cherry fruit, a hint of oriental spice, medium in body with a long intense finish.”
Yeah, whatever, cook with it.
The opinions contained in the above are strictly my own or those of my equally lacking friends. I do not pretend to be a wine expert, a connoisseur or even know what the heck I’m talking about. This is my tongue and these are my thoughts or the opinion of friends I have asked to chime in. If you agree or disagree with my taste (or lack there in) cool. Let me know. Or dont. If you have found some good wines at or around $10 a bottle, do mankind a favor. Share the love and spread the news. Let’s take the enjoyment of wine away from the rich and share it with the, uh… not-so-rich!
