Pepperwood Grove Zin $4.99 regularly $15.00

RATING: Serve to guests!
What I Thought:
How in the world I found this at $4.99 I don’t know. This was a great little wine with a great little aftertaste and a real “peppery flavor”, maybe even a little cinnamon…I don’t know, my pallet (or is it palate?) is pretty busted up. I do so like the reds with some personality! I found a little bit about this wine on the web but can’t seem to track this down anywhere right now. I would pay the $15 at this point. (GASP) Anyway, here’s the point, buy this and serve it. Good stuff. So, the next day I went back and found this little brother… see the Syrah.
From the Maker: California Zinfandel
+Our non-vintage Old Vine Zin is deep purple in color and has a bouquet of blackberry cobbler, fresh figs, currants, and cloves. This is a rich full-bodied Zinfandel with notes of dried dark fruit, fresh blackberries, caramel, pipe tobacco, Zin spice, and finishing with tons of rich French oak.
This big mouth filling Zinfandel deserves exotic food such as Wild Boar or Venison stew served over buttered noodles, Jamaican jerk seasoned flatiron steak, or wild mixed mushrooms and fresh spinach layered in a ricotta, manchego, and jack cheese spiked lasagna.”

Final Thoughts: It might “deserve …Wild Boar” but it’s getting Triscuts.
