Pepperwood Grove Syrah $4.99 (Can you believe it!) I know lousy picture. I was lazy.

RATING: Serve to Guests
What I Thought: Not as special as the Zin I previewed earlier but still worth the experiment. I am going to have to track down this brand somewhere (probably not at $4.99 …darn) and see what else we can try together! (By the way, in their description…Venison sausages? Do the people who write this stuff really eat this stuff? Are they just kidding?)
From the Maker:

California Syrah
“With a dark garnet color, this wine exudes raspberry jam and earthiness on the nose. The flavors are reminiscent of dark blackberry fruit with dark chocolate and fire roasted red pepper notes finishing with touches of the Lodi terrior, cloves, and honey-roasted walnuts.
Enjoy this wine with Beef Wellington, grilled venison sausages over cheesy grits, or your grandma’s old recipe for spaghetti and meatballs.”
The opinions contained in the above are strictly my own or those of my equally lacking friends. I do not pretend to be a wine expert, a connoisseur or even know what the heck I’m talking about. This is my tongue and these are my thoughts or the opinion of friends I have asked to chime in. If you agree or disagree with my taste (or lack there in) cool. Let me know. Or dont, just read and have fun.
If you have found some good wines at or around $10 a bottle, do mankind a favor. Share the love and spread the news. Let’s take the enjoyment of wine away from the rich and share it with the, uh… not-so-rich!
