Sorry, I can’t stand it and have to put it out there.
I am so frustrated with the way professional sports team owners have allowed, no created, today’s sport brat, thug professional phony athlete! As an example, today read where Jason Marquis, a great guy but average pitcher at best, would rather be traded from the Cubs than to be a bull-pen guy. Read about it.
OK, I get that. I would rather start than bp also (as if I had an arm). THAT does not whiz me off! What does is one of the reasons! To paraphrase, Jason loves Chicago wants to stay in Chicago…yada….but…he “has a family to think about”. Oh geeeeez, how could we have forgotten that…the poor children! They will be so destroyed if daddy’s $8 plus MILLION dollar salary THIS YEAR is paid due to bp duty. “The humanity”! How will they make it! They might have to carpool in the Lincoln limo lane as opposed to the Hummer limo lane this year as they go to school. Scarred for life.
By the way, I am NOT the one bringing his family into this..he is. Stupid comment. Dude, just admit it, just say “I can’t handle being a bp guy because I think I’m better than that. I need to start!” We would respect THAT comment.
I could pull out a hundred, no a thousand more examples of this spoiled sport lifestyle from every days’ news. But I think I made my point. This is nuts. You know…this really is ridiculous. I genuinely don’t care if I ever again pay a pro’s salary or make an owner wealthier by buying a jersey, paying to go to a game or spending $8 for a beer. (I wonder how much a nice Cal Cab would be?) I am a huge basketball fan but the NBA team I follow, the Pacers, is turning into a bunch of thugs (proof: gunfights involving players in strip club parking lots, fleeing felons hiding in player’s home…Larry can you hear me!). Baseball players are grossly overpaid for what they do even without the steroid stuff and football…forget about it. It is our fault that we allow overpaid grownups to do something with no societal value (throw the ball, hit the ball….) and then act as if they stopped a war. I’m done. Long live College sports! NCAA, please don’t screw this up.
(Sorry for the diatribe…Guess I don’t need more coffee this AM.)
